Outcasts aka my ideal show

Jamie Bamber, one of the stars of Outcasts

Like any good Battlestar Galactica fan I follow the cast’s movements with interest. Luckily they’re getting some great jobs (well, some of them) and moving on to exciting new projects. So when I heard Jamie Bamber (Lee Adama) had been cast in a new, British sci-fi series, I had to know more.

The new show, Outcasts, has me salivating. It’s being made by Kudos , one of the UK’s best television production companies, whose output includes Spooks, Hustle, Life 0n Mars and Ashes to Ashes. Not only that, but it has a stellar cast including Hermione Norris (the indomitable Ros Myers in Spooks), Amy Manson (the deliciously batty Daisy from Being Human), Eric Mabius (Daniel from Ugly Betty) and Daniel Mays, whose perfomance as the devilish (the Devil?) Keats in Ashes to Ashes is outstanding.

Geek Syndicate has the details – it’s a ‘a richly intelligent, character led drama full of big ideas about what it is to be human told through thrilling and surprising stories that could only appear in this show’. Plus it’s set on another planet. What more could you possibly want?

Of course I remind myself that Bonekickers sounded good from its press releases (ass-kicking archaeologists! Ancient mysteries!). But I can’t help but feel optimistic about this. At the very least it will fill time until Slingers arrives!
